MR. JORDAN AT ONEHUNGA.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —I read with interest tne report In Friday's "Star" of Mr. Jordan's meeting at Onehunga. You report Mr. Jordan as having said that "the members of Parliament are waited "upon by 'flunkeys.'" This is not correct. Mr. Jordan explained when giving some account of Parliamentary procedure that there is a staff of to wait upon and carry out the wishes of the members, and he wondered why we can afford these and yet cannot afford pfficient teachers for our schools. He also said it is the intention of the Government to spend some thousands of pounds to improve the ventilation of the House, which is occupied for a few months in the year, and yet cannot afford to improve the overcrowded condition of our schools. In justice to Mr. Jordan, I wish to .point out that he did not refer to the efficient staff as '•flunkeys."— I am, etc.. ACCURACY. i
