DOMAIN CHARGES.
(To the Editor.) Sir,-—The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club were granted the use of the cricket ground on two recent Saturdays with authority to make a charge not exceeding 1/ for admission. They took upon themselves the responsibility of being the first sports people to pass the tax on to the public and thus evaded the conditions. It is not for the sake of the penny, but why should one sports society be able to over-step the maximum set by law when others are debarred the same privilege? I see by the "Star" that the two Auckland gates netted the tidy sum of £550, which greatly exceeds the £100 guaranteed, so the City Council should be consistent and demand that the sum over-charged be handed to some deserving charity as they did when the New Zealand Rugby League offended in much the same manner a couple of years back.—l am, etc -> FILCHED.
