A CIVIC. RECEPTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DfXEDIX* this day. Mr. C. E. Statham, Speaker of thr House of Representiitives, was accorded a civic reception at which eongratula tions were extended by representatives o f various organisations. Responding, Mr said he felt he was the hurabl' instrument of Parliament. He had t< "nforce its orders, uphold its dignity md carry on its highest traditions t' Hie best of his ability. His duty was tr avoid all party feeling, and see tha< α-vfry member got a fair deal.
