AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.
» ■ THE SUMMER CARNTVAIn SECOND DAY'S RACING. The Auckland Racing Club's Summer Carnival will be advanced another stage at Ellerslie to-morrow. Thursday, when the second day's racing will take place. Considerable interest attaches to the Islington Plate which gives owners a good opportunity to give their Derby candidates a race over a milo to tune them up for the big event. The absence of Gloaming leaves the issue much more open and the contest should be a decidedly interesting one. The Summer Cup, the big handicap event, has drawn a good acceptance, and with the remaining races on the programme all claiming decent fields the racing is sure to be a bit above the usual standard. The first event is timed to start about 11.30 a.m. and the acceptances are: — BOWEN HANDICAP of BOOsovs Six furlongs. Sheffield .... o 0 Flying Planet 7 0 Mr Burnett..
