It is estimated there are between 300 and 400 seamen idle at Lyttelton, in addition to a fairly large number living in Christchurch. They seem to take tr.*%trike in an unconcerned manner, being confident that in the end tbey will benefit and go back to work undsr the conditions of tie old award with the new rates ot pay under the recent award. Some married men arc anxious to sec tho trouble ended.
