ASSAULT ALLEGED.
UNIONISTS AND FREE LABOUR. TV. 0 SEAMEN REMANDED. The Police Court was crowded to the doors this morning mainly by seafaring men. when John Farnan (29) was charged with having assaulted Harry Edwards and with having roblbed him of f2 and William Player (30) was also charged with having assaulted the same person. Jhe prosecution arose out of the exciting incident in the building wherein are the oflkes of the Seamen's Union, was related in yesterday's "Star." Mr. Vallnnee appeared for tin accused. Senior-Sergeant Rawle applied for a Temand until Thursday of next week. Mr. Vallance asked "for bail, stating that the men were not unknown. They were membsrs of the Seamen's Union and not likely to he lost sight of. Senior-Sergt. Rawle: 1 have no objection to reasonable bail hut the sureties must be satisfactory. Mr. Wil-on. S.M.: Ofcourse: asßault and robbery is a serious charge. Mr. Vallance: The amount is only £}. Mr. Wilsyn. S.M.: It is not the amount so much as the offence. ' Mr. Vallance: It is not likely the men could set a way. even if they wished to. Bail was fixed at £100, or two sureties of £30 each.
