The proposal of the Taumarunui Hospital Board to raise £45,000 for the purpose of erecting and furnishing new hospital buildings on a site already acquired, was discussed at the board's meeting on Friday night. Letters w-e r e read from the various contributing local bodies, which held the view- that tlu- Department's proposal, that the money bo raised for a term o-f 21 years at fi* per vent. and. £2 16/ per cent, sinking fund, was not acceptable. The Board was urged to endeavour to raise the money at a lower rate of interest an.l lower sinking fund -and to get the term extended. The Board decided that the chairman i Mr. A. .. Laird I and Mr. L. S. Ford proceed to Wellington and ascertain the "best possible condiions under which the loan could be raised.
