s APPLICATIONS FOR NEW SCHOOLS. The Auckland Education Board continued its meeting yesterday afternoon. Mr. E. C. Banks presiding. Regarding the Thames Central School, the Department authorised the Board to nequire additional land under the Public Workß Act, subject to the condition that the Department's share of the cost did not exceed the sum of .€2OO. Tho committee agreed to contribute £300 towards the cost. The matter was referred to the Board's solicitors for action. The inspector reported tttat be was not prepared to recommend applications for the establishment of a school at Waiotira, Waikiekio West. The advisory inspector reported on the establishment of a school at Waitoro, Te Kuiti, and recommended that the matter be deferred pending a decision from the Department on the question of the consolidation of schools at Pio Pio. This waa approved. It was decided to apply for a grant towards the cost of erecting a school building at Whataroa Road, and to renew a similar application in respect to Whenaunui. The Board declined to grant a request for the erection of gates or doors on shelter sheds made by the School Committees' Asseiation aud the Grey Lynn School Committee. Tlie tender of Mr. W. Morris of £4.T0 for additions to school building at Tali una was accepted. Miss Winnie Robertson was appointed domestic science instructor for the Whangarei centre.
