AVARICE OF WALL STREET.

" INTERESTS " HOLD UP NATION HENRY FORD'S WAT. VANCOUVER, August 26. The announcement comes from Detroit that Henry Ford's plant will close on September" 16 owing to the fuel situation. Mr Ford took the opportunity to uive vent to some straight talk. He declared that the industrial tie-up was brought about by the money barons who were manipulating the Labour unions. In the resultant crisis, it was important that nublic officials, both State and Federal, should realise that "the continuance of these disturbances to the economic life of the nation was due simply to the greed and avarice of Wall Street. T heße interests dominate the railroads, coalmines, and public utilities of the country." Mr Ford is of the opinion that within a few weeks. ind"stry throuehout America will be forced to'thrnw up its hands in currender. "The deadlock in the negotiations," he declared, "vindicated a pot to unload demoralised and rundown railroads on to the Government at their own pyice, and to mulct the people through excessive coal prices. The strikes would end when a majority of the people were cold and hungry enough to resort to drastic action."
