At a meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of John Penny, Mount Kden, held yesterday afternoon, the otlieial i assignee. Mr. W, S, Fisher, presiding, it was derided to realise the main asset (a house in Walter* Road, Mount Kdeu).! which/if it brings ill £1400 or £1500 as' one of the creditors assured the meeting it should, there will ho twenty shillings in the pound for everybody and a trille over. Secured creditors are claiming £iiTS. secured £i:.'l. and the deficiency ' on paper is £124. Bankrupt accounted for bis position by an unprofitable ex- I change uf a town property for a farm, j secondly to the fact that just "hen ho ; looked like getting a good htart on 'a dairy farm at Kaponga. Taranaki. the owner came back from the war and t°ok the plncc over bim-elf. and the third '■ thing to up-icH bankrupt's calculations was that he only got £30 from his : mother's estate instead of £:?00 he lrarl \ been led to expect. The £:!() was stated to be held by a Kaponga solicitor, and : the Oflicial Assignee »aid he had already written demanding the amount.
