FRENCH FLAYERS BEATEN. NEW YORK, August 16. Three young American players easily defeated "the French Davis Cup team at the Newport lawn tennis tournament, to the surprise of everyone. Kiles defeated Coehet, o—2, 6—4; Jones defeated Borotra, 7—5, 2—G. o—3; and Davies defeated Gobert, o—o 11—0 o—l. Davies defeated Wertheim, the Australian, G —2, o—o, 6—3.—(A. and X.Z.)
