BOGUS PARTNERSHIPS.

YOUNG MAN SENTENCES. TWELVE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT. A sentence of twelve months' imprisonment for frauds in connection with a number of partnerships was imposed on liionel Norman Haigh in the Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Stringer this morning. Mr. Singer, for the accused, said that he was a young man, 24 years of ags, who had not previously been before the Court. Counsel suggested that the accused had been influenced by the deceased man Barrie. and in view of the fact that the accused had been in custody sixteen weeks prior to the trial he asked that the Court extend as much leniency as possible. His Honor said that it -was a. case of a man of dubious record coming from Australia to raid unsuspecting people in Xew Zealand, and passed sentence as indicated above.
