MUSICAL COMPETITIONS.

i The Auckland eisteddfod and musical I competitions commence on Monday evening next in the Town Hall, and will extend over the whole week. The opening night 'will comprise a demonstration by choirs and a recital by Miss Daphne Knight, assisted by some of Auckland's best artists. Miss Daphne Knight, Messrs. Colin Muston, Phil. Mohr, J. F. Montague and Barry Coney are the adjudicators. A new form of competition has been introduced in the half-hour en-1 tertainment competition, for which three I evenings are allotted. Bands from Whan-| garci and Thames arc competing in the I band section, and the quartet competi-; tion should prove an interesting enter-1 tainmerit to musical folk.
