ROTORUA BOROUGH BILL.

PASSED BY THE H^jjSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The report of the Committee of the Houee on the Rotorua Borough Bill was considered this evening. The Hon. J. A. Hanan (Invercargill) deplored the apathy of the public in connection with public affairs; otherwise, euch a bill as this would never be permitted to page.

Sir John Luke (Wellington North) yoiced a final protest against the measure, which, he said, while pretending to give Rotorua a Mayor and council, really made tbe representative of the Tourist Department the Mayor of the town.

Mr. F. F. Hockly (Rotorua) defended the bill on the ground that it met tbe wishes of the people of Rotorua.

After the Minister had briefly replied, the bill was read a third time and passed.
