Mr. and Mre. F. C. A'Court, of Christchurch, arc visitore to Auckland. Mr. W. H. Joeeph, of Sydney, ie a guest at the Grand Hotel, Auckland. Mr. Herbert Dearsley, of Auckland, wae a passenger by the Niagara list night for Sydney. Mr. Scott Watson, of Honolulu, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and ie at the Grand. Commodore Hotham, of H.M*. Chatham, has i-eturned to Auckland from Wellington. The Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Averill), accompanied by Canon James, of St! Mary's Cathedral, returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington. An additional two weeks' leave of absence was granted the Hon. E. W. A'ison, M.L.C., this week on account of illness. Mr. Lionel E. Skipwitli has passed hie A.R.1.8.A. examination in Bedford Square, London. He has been away 2J years studying in London, Paris, "and America, and will return to Auckland shortly. Surgeon-Lieutenant A. Joyce, R.X., Lieut. W. W. Higgine, R.N., and Warrant Engineer H. Baton, R.N., who arriwd from England by the Athenic to take up commiseione on H.M.s. Veronica, arrived in Auckland from Wellington yesterday. To mark their appreciation of all he has done for them, in hie capacity of sheriff at Hamilton Court, the law clerks of the town yesterday presented Mr. H. J. Dixon, who leaves next week to take, up the duties of Stipendiary Magistrate ill Central Otago, with a travelling rug. The assembly was a large one in the law library.
