ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The council of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society met last evening, Mr H. H. Ostler presiding. The New Zealand Acclimatisation Societies' Association wrote stating that there waa no possible chance of a revision of the Fisheries Act, and it was therefore useless holding a conference protesting against the further introducj tion of quinnat salmon. f A request that deer be placed on Great | Barrier Island was received from a resident at Port Fitzroy. He stated that <ler would do well there. It was decided to give the application favourable coneideration when the next allocation of I deer is matte. Following on an offer to supply pheasants at a cost of £1 a head on February 1, 1923, the Society decided to purchase up to £400 worih of birds, provided that i they were not k.l__ than three months old at the time of delivery. Applications for pheasants and pheasants' eggs were received from tha Bay of Islands. Hawera. Feilding. and Nelson. It was decided to reply that the Society would be willing to sell young pheasants next February. The question of registered fowling- • pieces in the Auckland district was dis- j j cussed, and it was decided to approach | I the Attorney-Oeneral on the matter of j j obtaining a list of all holders of such I arms. j
