WHERE MONEY IS AVAILABLE. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. It was suggested to the Minister of Finance by Mr. Masters to-day that if the State Advance Office could increase the maximum advance to small local

bodies from £5000 to f 10,000, it would be | conferring a great benefit on them, particularly to back block districts. Mr. Massey replied that he was afraid there was not much likelihood of the suggestion being carried out so far as the State Advances Department was concerned, but he pointed out there were a number of other lending departments which he had reason to believe had money in hand. Members: But not at the same rate of interest. Mr. Massey added that there was much more hope of success in applying to these departments than by applying to the State Advances Office.
