BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The adjourned meeting of the Birkeubead Borough Council was held last night. The 'Mayor (Mr. ,1. W. Court) presided, and Councillors A. Bartlett. Thos. Smith. Phil. 11. Hayward. Robt. Taylor. A. Turner. L. It. L. Moller. 1". W. McCowan. Albert Had- . Held, au.l K. C. Walton were also present. I Works. —It was reported that the staff of I workmen numbered seventeen, thirteen of •whom were available for road works. The order of the various works authorised was urranged. The cost of the work at Mr. H. M. Shepherd's corner was given at £181 . 10. ti. I Beach Road. -With a view to definite ; action at the next meeting, the Works ■Committee was requested to confer with . Messrs. .larrett and Anderson, who had offered land for the deviation of Beach Road. The Mayor was empowered to request that the erection of the shop in the proposed line of deviation he delayed till after next meeting. I Hedges. Rigorous measures are to be taken in respect to overhanging hedges and gorse. where these are detrimentally affecting streets. j Meetings.- It was resolved to hold public I meetings at Birkenhead and Rirkdale on July 30 and 21 respectively, in order to : review the work of tbe Council and explain ! projected works. ,
