MANGERE RECREATION RESERVES.
The desirability of selling the existing reserves at Mangere. to provide money for the purchase of reserves more suitably located, was voiced at a meeting of Mangere ratepayers last evening. Advice to that effect had been given by the committee set up last August to go into the matter. A difficulty had, however, arisen, namely, that the proceeds of the sale nf the land would have to be paid into the public reserve fund and treated as territorial revenue. A resolution was carried protesting against the suggestion of the Lands Department that the landing reserve be sold and the money diverted to the Government territorial revenue instead of being placed to the district's credit as asked fo". for the purpose of purchasins a recreation ground in a more suitable part of the district; and that representation be made to get authority to dispose of the reserve and the money to be credited to the district recreation ground purchase fund.
