RATEPAYERS CRITICISE BOARD A LIVELY MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. j At a meeting o{ Tiimahere Road Board ! j ratepayers at Matangi last evening the \ I convener (Mr. \V. Lee Martin) severely \ 1 [criticised the past administration of the | i Hoard's affairs and the estimates fur- ' ( ; nished by the engineer for road work, ! i which he claimed would be considerably i i j exceeded by actual expenditure before ' 1 j the work could be completed. , 1 The past actions of the Board were i vigorously defended by the chairman of j the Board (Mr. James Dobbs) and'i I others, nnd the engineer (Mr. C. A. j 1 Brown) stood to his estimates, declaring i that the work in question would be com- ' I pleted within the estimated amount, and ' 1 with the money available. j i The discussion was animated through- i out, and at times somewhat personal, ' i i but little light was thrown upon the ', ' ! general situation, as the discussion con- ' sisted principally of assertion and met \ with denial, with little balance of actual proof available on either side. Short ' . addresses were also delivered by Messrs. | : S. Lyo, Hooper and Jeffries, who are also j candidates for seats on the Board at the ! '. coming election. i I . ' i
