OBITUARY.

MRS. GEORGE JOHXSTOX. Another of our early settlers ha 3 passed away in the person of Mrs. Geo. Johnston, whose death occurred at the residence of her daughter. Mrs. ('. L. Campbell. Birkenhead, early on Thursday morning. The deceased* lady arrived in Auckland with her parents, the lata Mr. and Mrs. S. 1. Matthews, in IS4S, and has resided here continuously since that time. She was married in isis3 to Mr. George Johnston, who will be remembered by many as general manager of the South British Insurance Company many years ago. Mrs. Johnston survived her husband five years, and since his death has lived quietly in the midst of her children, grandchildren and <*reatgrandehildren. For many Mrs. Johnston was an active worker in the Beresiord Street Congregational Church, and her name will be lon ff remembered by many for the faithful service sJfe rendered in that sphere of duty \ family of two sons and three daughters are all living, the oldest son being Mr. G.
