Makgill arrived in Auckland . from Wellington yesterday. I Captain and Mde. Fraywe, of New Guinea, are at present in Auckland. Captain H. D. Potters, and Mr. J. V. Auhcrtin. of London, are staying at the Central Hotel. ! Mr. Fiernard tSladden. of Tauranga, has liecn reappointed a member of the Auckland Land Board. Dr. Buck, of the Native Hygiene Division, is again in the North Auckland dietrict on official business. Mr. Albert Cohen, sub-editor of the Dunedin "Star, , 'is on a brief visit to Auckland, and is at "Cargen." The Rev. John Dawson, of Wellington, organising secretary of the New Zealand \niance, is at present in Auckland. ' Mr. J. B. Grange, Mr. B. 0. Gurney, and Mr. Robert Hannah, of Wellington, are among the guests at the Grand : Hotel. The Rev. Howard KUiott, who underwent a severe operation in Wellington a few weeks ago, will probably leave the hospital next week. Professors H. W. Segar and H. S. Dettmann left for Wellington last night to attend a meeting of the Senate of the New Zealand University. General Sir Donald McSavin arrived from Wellington this morning and is at the Grand Hotel. Sir Donald will probably return to the South to-morrow evening. Mr. S. Clifton Smith, the recentlyappointed headmaster of the new King's Preparatory College, arrived from Sydney yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Smith. A message from Dunedin states that Archdeacon W. Curzon-Siggers has ! resigned his charge of St. Matthew's parish, but retains his canonry and archdeaconry. The Auckland Education Board decided this morning to appoint Mrs. N. E. Fcrner as their representative to the Technical Conference to be held at Wellington on May 17. Tho Rev. K. 11. Johnson, who lias been promoted from curate at Christ Church, Whangarei, to vicar of Coromandcl, left Whangarei last evening for his new charge. At n large farewell gathering , he was presented with a silver cigarette case and a wallet of bank notes. i
