Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITIES

At tiie monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A., amongst other matters for discussion was the setting up of an Eaetcr camp, for whioh accommodation has kindly been provided at the Narrow Neck military camp, the house at W'atkowhai no longer being available. The camp this year is for the adolescent girl only, to be followed in May by a week-end for the senior girl members. Arrangement© were also made for co-operation with the health campaign of the Phmket Society during the visit, of Dr. Truby King some time towards the ond of "May. Mesdames J. <:. Dickinson. Charles Smith. M. McLeod, .1. Stantou, Cnrr-Rollctt. and Miss Griffin were appointed representatives of the Association to the National Council of Women. Mrs. Snowdon was appointed chairman of the Immigration and Housing Committee, to take the place of Mrs. Arniitage, who had resigned her position. Mrs. \V. Todd Smith was appointed chairman for the senior educa'ional department, and Mcsdames Buchanan and Merritt were also appointed to that committee.

The Hostel Committee reported the near completion of the new hostel wing, and the official date of the opening was fixed for Saturday. May 20. when the members of the Hostel Committee would be "At Home." together with the girle resident in the hostel, who were arranging for afternoon tea and a small sale of work to help with the furnishings.

The different departments reported exceedingly encouraging besinnings for the winter work, with good enrolments for nil tlie classes, gymnasiums, and clulis. and a good working team spirit throughout the Association. The opening rally for the after-Easter matron's gymnasium class wart fixed tor April 27. when Miss Fisher, physical director, would give a talk and demonstration of the kind of work that the woman who keeps young at 40 does in the gymnasium.
