Jfcw-Lynn- Town Board on Monday by its engineer. Mr. Jehu Rogers. He reported that satisfactory progress had been made. The removal of the decking and careful examination of the girders had confirmed his previous opinion that the structure was practically sound; slight minor defects in two "girders were disclosed which had been remedied by fishplates bolted to the girders, and as the outside upstream stringer was split in places through defective spiking it had been deemed desirable to duplicate the stringer, with the result that the structure would now be stronger than when first erected. This would involve a further expenditure of from £75 to £ 100. The work now be'mtr carried out was of a substantial character, and on completion Mr. Rogers stated that he was confident that the" life j>l the bridge would be extended for a large number of years. The chairman {(Mr. Lawson) stated that he had authorised the additional expenditure referred to, it being a matter of urgency, and suggested improved lighting at the ibridge in which the co-operation of Avondale should be sought. The chairman's action was unanimously endorsed, and fhe improved lighting facilities cgreed^to.
