TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
DIRECTOR RESIGNS. ILL-HEALTH THE CAUSE. ' Mr. George George, for 20 yean director of" the Seddon Memorial College, on Monday resigned his positioa owing to ill-health. In a letter to the board of governors Mr. George gave six months' notice from June 30 of his intention to resign, stating that for the past three years he had been seriously handicapped owing to throat trouble. Little benefit' hid been derived from constant medical attention through the lack of complete rest, and he had been advised that a eerious operation, involving a long mi, was imperative. Mr. George pointed out that over a year's accrued leave since 1908 was due to him, and asked that the period of his notice from July I onwards be granted to him as Ifave of absence on full pay. The board unanimously resolved to accept the resignation, and to recommend to the Education Department that in recognition of his paet»servic«s Mr. George be granted 6ix months' leave of absence on full pay. It was decided to advertise for a neir director in the Dominion and in Nβ* South Wales and Victoria, the understanding being that only in the event of an applicant from Australia having qu-lifications of a definitely superior character would the appointment be made out of Xew Zealand.
