THE HOLIDAYS.
Aβ -was expected the weather brightened up considerably yesterday. Thie morning wae overcast, and it looked- as though, a few showers from the eouthweet might be expected, and the crowds going for a picnic by road, rail or steamer were not so large as would hare been the case with a lees chilly day for the laet of the holiday*. As usual Ellerelie was the chief rallying jfoinl for the people abroad. Among' other outdoor fixtures for to-day are the cricket tournament, the 'bowling tournament, and the provincial golf chainpion- | ships at Mungerc. j
