N.S.W. ELECTIONS.
COUNTING PREFERENCE VOTES NO CHANGE IN PARTUS. LABOUR PABTY EXPULSIONS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The allotment of preference votes is proceeding , . In several electorates the counting i≤ completed. There is no change in the party positions. Sir. Simon Hickey, who briefly occupied the Speaker's chair on the resignation of Mr. D. Levy, was defeated at Botany, at which electorate a new Labour candidate, Mr. W. RatclifTe, topped the poll, beating Mr. Mutch, Minister of Bducation, and Mr. McKell, Minister of Justice. The last-named just scraped home without the quota. Mr. Cann, Minister of Mines, was the fifth member elected for St. George, also without the quota. The Labour party executive last night expelled Mr. Ratcliffe for refusing to obey the executive's injunction not to seek No. 1 votes, but to act as a dummy for the other four Labour candidates. Other candidates similarly refusing to play the part of dummy are threatened with expulsion.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
