DOMINION MEAT.

PREFERENCE SUGGESTION. A FROSTY RECEPTION. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, March 31. British authorities give absolutely no encouragement to the suggestion made by the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr. \Y. F. Massey) thai if the British 'Government could see its way to give New Zealand meat the benefit of a farthing per II), he would ask the New Zealand Parliament to pay another farthing.— (A. and N.Z. Cable. I INJUSTICE TO AUSTRALASIA. LONDON, March 31. Interviewed on behalf of the Australian and New Zealand Press Association, Mr. E. Jowett expressed surprise that Imperial Government contracts for supply of Argentine frozen beef to the Army and Navy were still in existence, as well as the Board of Trade arrangement Uiat certain Argentine meat works should be run on the Board's account, thus shutting out Australian beef from Army and Xavy contracts. Mr. Jowett impressed upon the authorities the injustice to the Australian farmer. The Army contracts with Argentina cease on June 30, and thereafter the Army will be prepared to take Australian meat. The Board of Trade's arrangement for uhe Nan , expires on December 31, but something roust be done to secure c-arlier cancellation. Mr. Jowett suggested the advisability of the Army and Navy authorities uniting the tenders from Australian importers and meat works. Mr. Jowett added that he wished to impress Australian exporters with the futility of sending bruised or flayed carcases. Recent Australian arrivals Bhowed a conspicuous absence of these faults, and enabled him to approac-h several largo retailers. He is hopeful that they will do business, hnf this will be only possible if no bruised or flayed carcases are sent.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
