FIRE AT HASTINGS.
THREE PLACES GTJTTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this d»y. A fire which broke out at midnight in a building on sections leased by the Railway Department in Station Street, ; gutted Hannah's three-table billiard i saloon, Kummer's seedsman's shop, the , "Hawke'g Bay Herald" agency office. Adjoining premises on either side occupied by Kessell (boot shop) and; Charles (fruiterer) were slightly damaged. , i I The destroyed buildings were the pro- | perty of Mr. W. F. Fitzpatrick. The j origin of the fire is unknown. The in- ; eurances are as yet unavailable. The ' property is within the brick area, and j amended conditions of lease will now be necessary and will assure the erection of substantial buildings to replace those destroyed. The insurances .are: Fitzpatrick's, j f 1000 on building and billiard tables and accessories in the Alliance; Kummer, £1000 on stock and fittings in the 1.0.A.; Charles, £150 in the State Office.
