BRIDGE FOR KIRIKIRI.

TO COST -£58,000. REPORT BY ENGINEER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A report on the proposed bridge across the Waihou river at Klrikiri, presented to the Hauraki Plains County Council by Mr. E. F. Powell, says that as the result of actual tests, there was no serious difficulty in constructing a traflic bridge above Kopu. Borings showed a satisfactory condition for driving p.iles to carry a great weight. He recommended a bridge of reinforced concrete at an estimated cost of £58,000, the length of the bridge proper to be 1740 ft, and width 12ft, with three passing places 18ft wide. The proposed I opening span will be of drawbridge J style, operated by a 12-h.p. engine, and I electricity will be used when available. It would take four minutes to open or close the span. The road approaches either side on an easy grade.
