PUBLIC SERVICE REDUCED.
SUPERANNUATION CONTRIBUTIONS. The following letter from the Public Service Association is at pTegent receiving the consideration of the Government:— Dear Sir. —I am directed by the executive committee of the association to ask whether the Government will arrange for the amendment of the Public Service Superannuation Amendment and Classification Act, to provide that, where a contributor is reduced in salary through no fault of his own, his retiring allowance, on his retirement, be computed on the average of his highest salary, provided that he pays contributions on the i highest rate of salary until his retirement. ] You will recognise that this is a matter of paramount importance to officers whose status and salary are being affected by the retrenchment at present being carried out. and will, to some extent, alleviate the hardship if the association's proposal is given effect to. You will note that it is not proposed to place any added, burden on the fund, because we provide that any officer concerned should pay contributions on his highest rate of salary. Youts faithfully, F. W. MTLLER, General Secretary.
