The Prime Minister, accompanied by Mr K. S. Williams. M.F.. arrived here last night from Glsborne. The partj left Gisborne at S a.m., arriving at '.1.30 p.m. after receiving numerous deputations at Te Karaka. Motuhora. Motu (where a halt was made for lunch), Opotlki, Xutuhou, Walmaua and Taneatua. At Nukuhon, .Mr. Massey was met by Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P.. who accompanies them to Matata. Te Puke and Rotorua. The Juvenile population was Raised to a pitch of exritenifnt at about eight this morning when the buzzing of a plane announced the arrival of the Canterbury iviation School machine that has been giving flights in {iisborne and dpotlki. The morning was bright and clear, and as the plane was riving low a fine view was otrtaied. Captain Blakely nrcled round the town and lauded on the sea beach behind the low sandhills, anil left an hour later on his return to Opotlkl. The members of the Matata Tennis Club paid a visit to Whakatane yesterday, and in a series of ■ paraes -were beaten by eleven games to eight, the points being 013 to 803. a difference of 110 points In TVhakatane's favour. It was reported that in the primary department there were 414 pupils while in the secondary There were 01. The report and. balance sheet in connection with the carnival, which was run for the purpose of raising funds for the school library, was submitted.
