In the Supreme Court this morning before Mr. Justice Herdtnan, Elizabetn Mayes Graham, of Auckland (Mr. R. G. Sellar), sued Hugh Mcßae, of Auckland, architect, for recisaion of a contract for the sale of a house at £1150 and furniture at £70. It appeared in evidence that a deposit of £100 had been paid, that defendant had been in possession ot the house for 14 months and had paid nothing. The defendant did not file a defence. Judgment was given in favour of the plaintiff for recission of the contract, for forfeiture of the deposit, for possession of the house and furniture, and for costs as on a claim of £1150.
At the suggestion of Mrs. Ferner, the Auckland Education Board to-day decided to write congratulating the Maungawhau School Committee, the teachers, and residents, and all concerned in the recent one-day effort by which the Maungawhau school came into possession of an excellent swimming bathe, on their splendid achievement and commendable spirit of self-help. Members of the Board heartily endorsed Mrs. Ferner's proposal.
