A HOODOO SHIP.
CONVICTS RUSH THE SONOMA. CREW USE REVOLVERS. SAN FRANCISCO, January 26. Hard luck ReeuM to be dogging the Sonoma, on which an attempt was recently made to rob the specie tanks. Captain Traak. upon arrival here, reported serious trouble with stevedores afi Pago Pago, in American Samoa. Tbe Sonoma, which arrived with X cargo of gold and other commodities valued at many million dollars, stopped at l'ago Pago to load coal. A number of native convicts, who were employed as stevedores, suddenly stormed over the vessel, and attempted to break into the specie chests. The entire crew was needed to repel the invadere at the point of the revolver. Nothing was lost, and no damage was done. The invaders were successfully driven off the vessel, which arrived hero safely.—(A. and N.Z.)
