NEW SOUTH WALES CHANGES. TALK OF ANOTHER PARTY. SYDNEY, this day. The Progressive Council and the party had a conference lasting till a late hour and decided to refer the matters in dispute to the Parliamentary party, which is now evenly divided with seven in each section. Mr. Perdriau has resigned from the Progressive party, and it is stated that he will form the nucleus of a genuine Country party, not controlled by city men such as the Progressive party. It is understood that Mr. Levy will remain as Speaker until the National party otherwise directs.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) THE LABOUR GOVERNMENT RE-FORMED. BAGNALL AND SPEAKERSHIP. SYDNEY, December 21. Mr. Dooley's Ministry was sworn in to-day. The only change from his previous Ministry is that Mr. E. J. Kavanagh, who was Acting-Minister of Labour, now takes full contTol of the Department, and Mr. J. J. G. McGirr devotes his whole time to the administration of the Health and Motherhood Departments. / The Assembly sat for one hour to-day. Mr. W. R. C. Bagnall, secretary of the Nationalist party, who opposed the coalition formed by Sir Geo. Fuller, stated that in future he would judge the Government's merits by its-legislative proposals, but he would not accept nomination for the Speakership in the event cf Mr. D. Levy resigning. Mr. Dooley, in reply to Sir George Fuller, who asked what business the Government proposed to bring forward, said that he would endeavour to make a statement on Thursday. He added that the Government agreed with Sir George Fuller that elections should be held as soon as practicable. The agreement establishing a. coalition of the Nationalist and Progressive parties provides that both party organisations shall be maintained as separate entities, that five portfolios shall be allotted to Progressives if the coalitionists are returned to power, and that the policy of decentralisation shall occupy the present place on the coalition platform. The term of the coalition is to be for the life of the forthcoming Parliament. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.) DOUBLE TRAGEDY. YOUNG GIRL'S DEATH. "CAN'T LIVE VvTTHOUT HIM."' An 18-year-old girl, Mary Mac Goldsmith, who lived with her parents at Redfern Street, Redfern, was taken to Sydney Hospital on Thursday of last week, suffering from the effects of poison. She died shortly after admission. In a note which she left for her mother the girl said that the body of the young man, Henry Knight (17), which was found in a pit at St. Peters on the previous day, was that of her lover. The note m: "You don't know how much I loved him. I cannot live without him." The Redfern police have been informed that the two had been friendly, but they parted owing to a quarrel.
