PLAIN SPEAKING

AT PREMIERS' CONFERENCE. SUPREME COUNCIL TO MEET. <By Cable.—Presa Association.—Copyright.) . (Received 11.30 «jn.) LONDON, December 21. The greatest secrecy is maintained over the} Briand-Lloyd George conference. It is reported that there was very plain speaking on both sides. It now appears impossible to conclude the conference to-mdrrow as wa6 intended, certain difficulties having arisen compelling continuance over the week-end. It is considered unlikely that any decisions will be taken, but a meeting of the Supreme Council will be summoned in January either in Paris or San Remo, where a proposal will be submitted on the question of reparations and the general economic restoration of Europe. — (A. and NX Cable.) FIVE-POWER CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN STATES. LONDON, December 21. The Central News Agency states that Mr. Lloyd George haa. submitted to M. Briand a proposal that a five-Power conference, embracing Britain, France, Italy, Russia, and Germany, should be called in January.—(A. and N-Z. Cable.)
