Newman made a break of 307. j Tile billiard correspondent of the London "Observer' states that the possibility of a player from the Dominions winning the billiard championship adds immensely lo the interest of the season. MoConachy has impressed all good Judges j of the game. Ho had to master the difficulties of the ivories before he could be regarded as dangerous to British players. To what extant ho has succeeded can be judged by hi? sound achievements ajrainst Newman". It is still doubtful if he can defeat the leading Englishman on level terms, though Mis best form is yet to be seen.
