ATTITUDE OF SOLDIEHS. REPLY TO PRESBYTERY. "It must be clear to every thinking man to-day that the recent world war lhas effectively esiplodod the fallacy that if a nation desires peace it must prepare for war," wrttte the Rev. D. C. Herron, in a letter to the Auckland executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association. "The Presbytery, therefore, is seeking to cooperate with, every group of men and twtaniec who wre seeking to establish peace of the world on a permranenb basis by turning the liiiml of the community •away from a method of mottling international disputes by Avar and, instead, creating a 'henltshy puSblic opinion in favour of submitting all national differences to arbitration through, the agency of the League of Nations. The Presbytery confidently hapes t'l\at in its effort £t will liaive the hearty support of an association whose mernhers have experienced the ghastlirass of ■war, and who, therefore, have -every right to lead the ■way in seeking a better method of Settling sudli issues in the future." .The .Auckland Presbytery, it was recalled, at a recent meeting , , decided to support the objects of tile League of Xations Union. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. A. C A. Sexton, that Mr. Berron be informed that the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association h«.d approved of the principle of the League of Xations, and in at while the association, as a, 'body, could not pledge itself to join aj>y organisation in support of the Leafrue, it mrald 'be pleased to send a speaker to represent it at any meeting that might ibe.ea-lled in furtherance of the objects of jfche League.
