SCOTLAND'S PEOPLE.
TOTAL OF 4,882,255. GLASGOW OVER THE MILLION. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 29. Tbe census of Scotland shows- a population of 4,882,288, of whom 2,533,555 are females. The inter-censal increase of 2.5 per cent is the smallest since the first census of 1801. Glasgow's population is 1,034,069, and that of Edinburgh 420,281.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
