The Scotsman is generally regarded as having a keen eye for a bargain, but it would appear from a story from Dunedin which is vouched for by a "Wellington business man that he can also see a good thing and let it slip. For advertising purposes, one of the largest furnishing stores in Dunedin decided to dress one of its windows to represent a completely furnished drawing room. A suite of furniture—piano, carpet, and every small detail of the room—was placed in position, and the '"room"' as it stood was offered for £60. The public crowded out- ■ side the window, eyed, every article ; closely, but Ao purchaser stepped for- ! ward. There must be some catch, was I the general opinion. For three days the offer was open to all, and as no one apparently wanted the bargain the firm ' dismantled the drawing room and placed the contents back in stock. The shop price of the piano alone wae £65. The takings at Wanganui in the match igainst the Springboks on Wednesday exceeded £975. —.. .
