FREE FRUIT AND SWEETS.
YOUNGSTER* 1 ' RAIT) OX JTCOP. Five young boys were brought before ■Mr. Poynton. BjM., at the Children's Court, this morning, charged wtth the fcheft of fruit and confectionery valued at £5. For the prosecution it was stated that one of the lads discovered that it was easy to enter a small shop at tbe foot of Grey Street -whilst the owner, was at the rear, help himself to a mandarin or stick of chocolate, and get away unperceived. He let the other lads into this secret, and the five of them for about three months regularly raided the shop, until they were eventually discovered. One of the parents informed the ' magistrate that the lad? had been frequently thraehed, but that it did them no good. "It doesn't come boys." observed Mr. Poynton. The case was adjourned for six months, in which -period the offenders will be kept under close police supervision.
