DERBY PREPARATIONS.
ROADS FULL OF TRAFFIC. CONTROLLED BY AN AIRSHIP. LONDON, May 31. There arc prospects Of a record Derby day. Excursions to the Downs have already been commenced. are no race trains, owing to tho coal strike, visitors using motor-cars and charabancs, while there are hundreds of omnibuses, and taxicabs, the road traffic beiug specially organised under the supervision of Airship R33. Wireless telegraphy and telephony will be used to report the race, an airship sending out regular messages. The King and Queen, instead of quietly entering the grandstand, will enter at Tattenham Corner, driving along the'course to the grandstand. A betting sensation has been caused in the case of Alan Breek, which was formerly favourite, and has now lengthened to an outside price, with even money against him running. His owner states that he has developed trouble in the pan of the heel. The veterinary surgeon is hopeful that he will run. Craiganeran is now favourite, with Lcighton next in demand.—(A. and N.Z.
