Tho "Chicago Tribune's" Peking correspondent states that General Kumura, chief of the staff of the Japanese forces at Vladivostok, has officially informed M. Popofi", chairman of the- RussoJapanese conciliatory committee, that within a month Japanese troops will make an expedition through various regiona of the maritime provinces, and along the western bank of Xanka Ijike and both sides of the Ussuri railway. ' The Russian reply states that such an expedition would violate the RussoJapanese understanding.— (A. and N.Z.)
