ADJI'STIXG THE AWARD. The services of Mr. T. Harle-Giles, Conciliation Commissioner, will be , availed of in the preliminary hearing of i the dispute between the Auckland .Fire Brigades' Industrial l_"nion and the : Auckland Fire Board, which is expected ■ to take place this week. The principal matter in dispute is wajm, and accord- i hifr to tlie Industrial IXisputes Investigation Act, the preliminary step is a conference, 'between the two parties at ] which the Commissioner presides. In . the event of a settlement not being- . readied at the conference, a disputes j committee will be appointed at which 11 the chairman ie selected either by j mutual agreement or by the Minister I of Labour. I
