EVENING "AT HOME."
An evening "At Home" was given last night by Mr. and Mrs. David Hathan, at "Cintra," Symonds street, and was one of the most charming events of the season. The dignified house, standing in its large grounds, lends distinction to any function, and when lit up for the dance, was very gay and attractive, and the ball-room, with its- dead •white walls and massed flowers, made a happy setting for the many beautiful frocks worn by the guests present. The lounge -was sylvan with palms standing in huge burnished copper bowls, and one remarkable embossed silver bowl was glorious with massed begonias in a pale shade of pink. Supper was spread in the dining room, the tables gay with large silver epergnes fiilled with pale pink sweet peas and flowers of a delicate mauve colour, while a jazz band added to the enjoyment of the dancers, amongst whom were the Vice Regal party, consisting of Viscountess Jellicoe, fhe Hon. Lucy Jellicoe, and Miss Gillett. Mrs. Nathan, to receive her guests, wore a handsome frock .of emerald green soft eatin with emerald green tulle and large ostrich feather fan to match. Viscountess Jellicoe was attired in pale rose satin souple, with a jewelled panel and heavy crystal fringe finishing the skirt, which was in the longer mode, and brocade shoes. She also wore a diamond necklet and a diamond band in coiffure to match. The Hon. Lucy Jellicoe was in pale jade georgette, simply made with full pleats. Miss Gillett was in black souple satin and georgette with bead embroidery. Miss Agnes Duncan wore white and rold; Mrs. Tan Duncan, silver tissue and black charmcuflo; Mrs. Eric Riddiford, black with diamond tiara; Mrs. K. Williamß, black charmeuse; Mrs. Findlav? black brocade with jetted overdress, ospreys in hair; Mrs. F. Waller, pale bronze" souple satin with pointed panel over heavy gold embroidery; Mrs. Parkes, grey charmeuse with overdress of beaten silver; Mrs. Colbeck, rose and white brocade; Mrs. Milson, rose pink charmeuse, grey tulle draping; Mre. Louisßon, heliotrope brocade; Mrs. Darcravine. oyster eatin and emerald; Mrs G. Bloomfield, primrose satin, with silver; JJisi P. Bloomfield, white brocade and tulle; Miss Otway, lace and heliotrope taffeta; Mrs. A. MoCosh Clark, ivory Bid gold brocade; Mrs. K. Russell, floral brocade mnde with full draped effect; Mrs. Sidney Thorne George, rose pink trith gold embroidered under-skirt; Miss Rathbone, floral brocade; Mrs. L. ftjoomfield. black lace, black georgette md oeprey in hair; Miss Bullock Webfter, black and silver: Miss F. Wake, tprieot georgette; Miss L'Estrange Nolan, primrose eatin made with new trinoline effect, draped with tulle; Mrs. Jlan, silver embroidered lace over silk; Ire Noel Adams, brocade: Mrs. W. i. Wilson, black; Mine B. Wilson, jauve; Mri. Hardy, pink brocade; Miss 'oeter, primrose satin, ostrich feather rimming; Mrs. Bush, blaok: Mrs. AbO rt, pale blue folk; Mrs. Nolan, black; fiss Dirnner (Gfebome) L pink charicuse.
