Mr. and Mrs. Gage Williame are the puests of Mrs. Seymour Thorne George, I'arnell. Mrs. Muir Douglas has taken Mrs. Ewen Alison's house in Roslj-n Avenue, Kemuera. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Somcrville, of OhrLstchurch, arc at present staying at Mon Desir Hotel, Takapuna. Mrs. and Miss RoMoson are paying a visit to Auckland, and are tho guests of Mrs. E. Anderson, Ttemuera. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Waller hare returned to Auckland, and have taken up their residence in Epsom. Miss Mackersay, lady corps superintendent of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, Dunedin, is on a visit to Aucklnnd. The Prime Minister and Mrs. Massey are staying with their daughter, Mrs. Laurence Taylor, Esplanade Road, Mt. Kden. They are acvompanied by Miss Massey. The engagement is announced of Miss Owen Thompson, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Thompson, Banff Avenue, Kpsom, Auckland, to Mr. A. H. Turtle, second son of Mrs. W. Turtle Canterbury England and the late Major Turtle, Bengal Lancers, India. New Zealand women will be interested to" hoar that it was an Australian woman journalist « - ho wae appointed to the Indv editorship of the London "Daily Mail,' , which was recently advertised at the salary of £1,000 a year. Miss Thelma Cohen was the journalist who was appointed, who, besides being very able with her pen, hae <been working for the llarmsworth publications for the last ten years. The marriage took place yesterday at St. Mary's Cathedral, Parne-U, by the Ttev. P. James, of Miss Winnie Ince, youngest daughter of Mrs. Ince and the lato Mr. F. G. Ince, A.M.1.C.E., to Mr. V. B. Rumsam, of Lynton, Devonshire. England. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Don Maegregor, wore a cream gabardine , costume with hat to match. Miss Kate Ince acted as bridesmaid, and Mt. Geoff. Davis ac beat man. A reception was afterwards held at "Kincraig," Park Road. \ pretty wedding was celebrated on Wednesday last, when Mr. Richard Malcolm Leach, son of Mr. Leach, Waihi, and Miss Esther C. N. Salt, youngest daughter of Mrs. C. Salt, of Paeroa, were married. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Enticott, at the Methodist Church, Paeroa. The b-ide, who was given away by her brother, Mr. J. Roisdon Salt, wore a frtick of crepe-de-chine with an overdress of georgette, embroidered with beads, and the usual veil and orange blossoms. f~lie carried a bouquet of white roses, Christmas lilies and asparagus fern. Miss N. Durie, of Waihi, and Miss Jean Duncan, of Auckland, attended the bride. Miss Dime's frock was of white voile, and picture .hat, with bunches of pale pink. Her bouquet wae of pink sweet pea and maidenhair fern. Miss Duncan was attired in pale pink voile and mob cap of white straw. She carried a basket of pink and mauve sweet peas, held with a large bow of pink ribbons. Mr. George Hampton acted as best man. A reception wae afterwards held at the residence of the bride's mother. In the evening a very enjoyable eocial was spent in the Returned Soldiers' Hall in honour of the bride and bridegroom. TheTe were about 50 invited gueets present.
