CHINA'S FINANCE.
FUNDS FROM JAPAN. NEW YORK, December 28. The Shanghai correspondent of the "Chicago Tribune" states that the Government mint at Tientsin has concluded a 1,000,000d0l loan «ith the ChineseFrench Bank, under which the bahk can purchase all bullion and take charge of output of silver dollars and copper coins. It is understood that funds supplied through the bank are Japanese. It is rumoured that a large part of the loan will be used by the military and civil governors of the Chi-li Province for election expenses and control of the new Parliament. Chinese bankers have sent a protest to the Chinese Government declaring that control of the output of the mint by the Chinese-French Bank will be highly detrimental to native banking interests. —(A. and X.Z.
