AFRICAN PIGMIES.
A TRAVELLER'S DISCOVERY. RACE 45 INCHES HIGH. LONDON, December 28. Mr. Sydney Fairbairn, a member of the Travellers' Club, hah returned from An arduous journey in Central Africa. [After much searching he found the land of the pigmies. The average height of the pigmies is 45in, and their houses are 52in high. He entered them, by crawling. The pigmies are muchv fairer and lighter in colour than the average Central African tribes. The men are beautifully made, and the women massive with tiny feet. Their faces are gnome-like. At the outset they were Beared, especially by the explorer's camera. Later they danced all night long round log fires. Mr. Fairbairn travelled hundred of miles guided by savages, who used a system of signalling by tombstones, and sent elaborate messages by the beating of drums.— [["Times.")
