PREMIER IN AUCKLAND.
SNATCHES A BRIEF HOLIDAY. MEETS DAVIS CUP TE-AMS. Looking remarkably well in spite of a strenuous session and hard work necessitated by tbe ainsettleil state of things in general, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, accompanied by his private secretary, 'Mr, F. D. Thomson, has arrived in Auckland for a brief holiday, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. This morning he paid a visit to the Oostley Home and wished the old people the compliments of the season. He was to have 'been present at the opening match of the Davis Cup to-day, and expects to see some of tbe play, and will ailso attend the summer meeting of the Auckland Racing Club at Ellerslie. So far the Prime Minister has no public engagements, and hopes to be able to get a few days' rest in his home town. Ho will return to Wellington at the beginning of next week. This morning Mrs. Hardy and the members of the American and Australian teams competing in the Davis Cup matches were the guests ot the Prime Minister at lunch.
