A RAID AT CORK. "EXAMINER" OFFICE WRECKED IjONDON, December 28. Thirty armed and masked raiders invaded the office of the Cork "Examiner" on Christmas F.ve. They broke the machinery with hammers, wrecked parts of the building with explosives, and set fire to the property. They escaped before the arrival of the police. The fire was extinguished, but other damage was extensive. The raiders, who were in civilian clothes, said "that they were acting under orders of the Irish Republic." It is believed that the attack was caused by the newspaper's attitude to the recent pastoral letter of tbe Bishop of Cork, condemning anibushos. The Irish Office announces that a group of Sinn Feiners in Dublin fired on a group of unarmed military, wounding one. Excepting a few incidents of rowdyism Christmas passed quietly throughout Ireland. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
